Can I still use the Diskeeper software I own?
Yes! The last release was Diskeeper 18. If you own Diskeeper 18, the Home and Pro editions will also run on Windows 11 and the Server editions will also run on Windows Server 2022.
Why did we stop selling Diskeeper?
Diskeeper is incredibly popular, having been licensed on tens of millions of Windows systems and countless testimonials and awards. With advancements in technology, it was time we made it easier for our customers to boost the performance and reliability of their Windows systems no matter the environment. We created DymaxIO to roll all our technologies from Diskeeper, SSDkeeper, and V-locity into one simplified and streamlined product. Now customers can receive the ideal performance optimization technologies automatically no matter the storage (HDD, SSD, SAN, all-flash, hyperconverged, or cloud) used.
Can I still buy Diskeeper?
No, we no longer sell Diskeeper. You can buy new DymaxIO for Windows PCs, Servers, and Hosts here.
How do I upgrade from Diskeeper to DymaxIO?
Once you have purchased new DymaxIO, simply uninstall Diskeeper, install DymaxIO, and apply the license key. The DymaxIO software download file and new license key will be available in your new online account.

The DymaxIO I/O Performance dashboard tab takes a deeper look into the performance characteristics of I/O activity. The data shown here is similar in nature to other Windows performance monitoring utilities and provides a wealth of data on I/O traffic streams.
By default, the information displayed is from the time the product was installed. You can easily filter this down to a different time frame by clicking on the “Since Installation” picklist and choosing a different time frame such as Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 60 Days, Last 90 Days, or Last 180 Days. The data displayed will automatically be updated to reflect the time frame selected.

The 2 Big I/O Inefficiencies Robbing Your Performance
Windows I/O Tax
The first is the caused by the behavior of the Windows file system. No matter where you run Windows and no matter what kind of storage environment you run Windows on, Windows still penalizes optimal performance due to severe write inefficiencies in the hand-off of data to storage.
Files are always broken down to be much smaller than they need to be. Each piece means a dedicated I/O operation to process the write or read, which causes an enormous amount of noisy, unnecessary I/O traffic that chews up precious IOPS, erodes throughput, and causes everything to run slower no matter how many IOPS are at your disposal.

The I/O Blender Effect
The second is storage I/O contention, also known as the I/O Blender Effect, which happens when you have multiple systems all sharing the same storage resource.
As small, fractured I/O traffic from several virtual machines pass through the physical host hypervisor (Hyper-V or VMware), the hypervisor acts like a blender. It mixes these I/O streams, causing a randomization of storage I/O packets, before sending out a chaotic mess of small, fractured, and very random I/O streams to the storage controller.
It is essentially amplifying the Windows I/O tax multiple times causing even more performance penalty.

IntelliWrite is a patented write optimization technology that automatically prevents excessively small, fractured, random writes and reads that harms performance due to the severe inefficiency in the native hand-off of data between the Windows OS and underlying storage. IntelliWrite write I/O optimization technology prevents excessively small, fractured I/O characteristics in real-time by providing file size intelligence to Windows to help it choose the best allocation at the logical disk layer when writing files. This intelligence ensures large, clean contiguous writes and subsequent reads in which maximum payload is carried with every I/O operation to and from the OS to underlying storage. Without IntelliWrite, the Windows OS just opts for the next available address at the logical disk layer, which is rarely, if ever, the right size. This inefficiency causes many more I/O operations to occur to/from underlying storage for any given file that should be optimally written and read with a single I/O operation. Since DymaxIO reduces the number of I/Os for any given workload, there are even fewer I/O operations being mixed and randomized at the hypervisor or SAN level, which combats the ill-effects of the “I/O blender” effect.
